Mu Gamma at-Large Chapter of Sigma, the international honor society of nursing, is hosting the Treasure Valley Nursing Research Conference May 15, 2024, at the Saint Alphonsus McCleary Center in Boise, Idaho. 

The purpose of the conference is to promote nursing research to guide practice, learn how to use artificial intelligence in research, conduct nursing research in an ethical manner and to disseminate nursing research and evidence-based projects from the Treasure Valley of Idaho. 

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Debbie Ketchum, DNP: Using Nursing Research to Guide Practice.                                                                                      Debbie Ketchum is currently on the Board of Directors for AWOHNN.  She is the Clinical Engagement Specialist for PerGen Clinical Solutions, Subject Matter Expert-Peer Reviewer for Elsevier, and the Subject Matter Expert-Maternal-Newborn Writing Team for the National Certification Corporation.  Debbie Ketchum received her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from Boise State University

Dr. Bethany Schultz, EdD: Using AI in Research                                                                                                                           Bethany Schultz is the Director and Associate Professor for the Center for Instructional Design and Technology at Northwest Nazarene University.  She received her Doctorate in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University in Leadership and Professional Practice.

 

Dr. Christa Sandidge, EdD: Using AI in Research.                                                                                                                        Christa Sandidge is currently the Director and Assistant Professor for the Center for Professional Development at Northwest Nazarene University.  She received her Doctorate in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University in Leadership and Professional Practice.

     

R. Alex Chamberlain, MDiv: Ethics in Research.                                                                                                                            Richard Chamberlain is an Adjunct Faculty member at Northwest Nazarene University where he teaches Clinical Ethics.  He is a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains and has served with the Professional Ethics Commission.

Rick Bassett, MSN, APRN, CCRN                                                                                                                                                        Rick Bassett is an Adult Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist for St. Luke's Health System.  He is on the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialist (NACNS) Board of Directors and NACNS Board Liaison for the NACNS Legislative/Regulatory Committee.  Rick is also the Chair of the Legislative and Policy Committee of the Idaho Health Continuum of Care Alliance (IHCCA).  He received his Master of Science in Nursing from Idaho State University.  

Bethany Mello, DNP, FAAMM, NP-c                                                                                                                                                   Bethany Mello is the Family Nurse Practitioner Program Director and Associate Professor at Northwest Nazarene University.  She is a Certified Nurse Practitioner at Advanced Specialty Care and Med Spa, and specializes in Functional Medicine.  She earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from North Dakota State University. 

Julya Miner, DNP                                                                                                                                                                               Julya Miner is currently a Clinical Risk Manager for the St. Luke's Health System.  She is also a panel member of the Research Advisory Committee for the Association of Women’s Health Obstetrics and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN), a reviewer for the Nursing of Women’s Health Journal for AWHONN She earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Kattie Payne, PhD                                                                                                                                                                               Kattie Payne is an Adjunct Faculty for the Graduate Program of Northwest Nazarene University.  She serves as a Clinical Research Scientist for the Veteran's Administration.  Kattie enjoys teaching and assisting students with their capstone evidence-based practice projects. She has been involved in diabetic foot ulcer research at the Boise VAMC.  She earned her Doctorate in Healthcare Administration.     

Lucy Zhao, PhD                                                                                                                                                                                  Lucy Zhao is an Associate Professor for the School of Nursing at Boise State University. Lucy Zhao conducts research on patient care quality improvement and health promotion for older adults.
